Conquer Financial Burnout

We get it.

Living on a budget is stressful. But at MCNJTFCU, we have some easy tips to help you re-energize and conquer some of the bad habits that lead to financial fatigue. Not only will these tips help you to prioritize your economic well-being, but they will also keep things in perspective.

Steps to improve your financial well-being:

  • Set up a separate savings account for something special, like a vacation, a down payment for a car, or holiday expenses. Even if it takes a while to get there, it’s something to look forward to. Plus, you’ll feel knowing you’re in control of your finances.
  • Monitor your accounts every day. (Think of it as a good financial habit, something you want to take care of daily, like brushing your teeth.) Use tools like Online and Mobile Banking to help you stay on top of things. If you see you’re spending too much, put a halt to it.
  • If you’re carrying several loan balances, pay down your most expensive debt first, the one with the highest rate. Or consider a debt consolidation loan to make things easier with a single payment.
  • Give yourself some “treats” along the way, like a dessert or movie night out. Depriving yourself of all the extras can be self-defeating and even lead to depression. Instead of binging on something you can’t afford (or charging it), do something small but still nice for yourself.

Sticking to a financial plan means more than achieving a goal. It’s a way of life that will help you save more, stay committed to goals, and attain a happier, less stressful life!
